Numbers&Me

Turning and flipping letters

Grade 3 · Shapes and angles

A letter is turned or flipped, and the student picks the result from four pictures: a quarter turn, a half turn, or a flip from left to right or top to bottom.

A letter is something children already know the right way up, so the change is judged against a familiar shape. That makes it an easier start than turning abstract patterns.
