Numbers&Me

Elapsed time across noon

Grade 3 · Time and calendars

An outing starts in the morning and ends in the afternoon: Harper left home at 9:55 am and got back at 2:25 pm. How long was she away? The answer is in hours and minutes.

Every question crosses midday, so the hours can't be subtracted straight off the clock. The wrong choices are the two usual slips: adding the clock readings, and ignoring the pm.
