Rectangle sides from a ratio

Grade 4 · Area, perimeter and volume

The length and breadth of a rectangle are in a given ratio, such as 6 : 4, and its area is known. The student works out both sides.

The ratio isn't always in its simplest form, so it helps to simplify first and then find the scale that gives the area.
