Area of an L-shape

Grade 3 · Area, perimeter and volume

An L-shape with every side labelled, and two dashed lines showing the two ways to cut it. The student taps one, then writes the area of each rectangle and of the whole shape.

There is no grid, so the areas come from multiplying side lengths, not counting squares. Either cut is accepted.
